The Required Motion Picture & Television Permit is issued to provide film and television productions access to film in public locations, and use street parking for essential production vehicles, throughout 300 square miles of public settings in the City, including 27,000 acres of City parks.

Photo Identification
An Original Certificate of Insurance, which must meet the OFTB requirements. For more information about insurance requirements, please visit the link above.
If filming in a City park, complete the Parks Film Shoot Request Form available at the link above. The request will be routed to the appropriate individual park manager to process. Please allow at least 48 hours for the park manager to respond to the request.
There are no applicable fees.
The permit is valid only with an original signature and an official seal from a permit coordinator at OFTB. Filming interiors within city buildings, bridges, subways or tunnels will require additional permissions from the controlling entities. Please call the OFTB to obtain specific contact information. When a project is shooting at an exterior location that requires traffic control, or has a scene with prop firearms, weapons or actors in police uniforms, the applicant must request that the NYPD Movie and TV Unit be assigned to the location. The police unit will assign its officers at no charge.
Download and complete the form listed under Application Materials, above. The applicant must type directly onto the form; handwritten applications are not accepted.
If filming in a City park, once the park manager has approved the shoot, reference the park manager who provided approval on the permit form.
Print and sign one version of the application and submit it with a photocopy of a valid photo ID at the Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting (OFTB) office, located at the address below.
